Criticality, role and importance of site in evolving passive, sustainable, eco-friendly, energy- efficient and resource efficient design of buildings is well known and well recognized in the parlance of profession of Architecture. Despite criticality of site in making building design qualitative, role and relevance of site, in majority of cases, remains marginalized, diluted and muted in teaching- learning of art and science of designing buildings. As   creators and designers of physical spaces, architects have enormous capacity, capabilities, understanding and abilities to use various options to create numerous concepts and   typologies of built form. However, while preparing for the design phase of a project, it is crucial for an architect to familiarize and understand the context in which he has been engaged to design built environment. The context of site accordingly assumes importance in evolving rational, realistic and sustainable design of buildings.
