The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has over 1,50,000 km of National Highways spread across the length and breadth of our country. The Ministry has timely issued guidelines regarding incorporation of provision for boundary/ toe wall in all the National Highway projects as per the requirement of access control/ partial access control and to check encroachments on National Highways.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has erected boundary walls as per the Ministry’s latest guidelines in several projects. However, the design of boundary wall needs to be improved from an aesthetic point of view.

Accordingly, NHAI intends to conduct an ideas design competition through Council of Architecture (CoA) to improve the aesthetics of these walls while duly keeping in view the technical specifications.
